A configuration of hardware, software, firmware, functions and/or processes which, as a complete entity, is identifiable as an item of which the composition, functional and/or physical characteristics can be altered. These alterations to the item must be known and controlled for the design, integration, operational application and logistic support of the item. A configuration item is identified in AssetWise with a prime identifier and a version number.
